CHARACTER INFO

Character Name: Vi
Character Canon: League of Legends

History:
This should cover it.

AU History:
Vi was born in the industrial district of Union to a single mother and a life of poverty. She very quickly became jaded to the ways of high society, and even as a child she was stealing from people and spelunking for scrap in the Old City. As a teenager, she was in a small-time gang of like-minded Problem Youths.

During a trip to the Old City, there was an earthquake (not the recent event one) that caused a tunnel collapse, imperiling a nearby group of Delvers. The gang ran, worried that the authorities would show up, ran, but Vi stayed behind to play the hero. She tore the arms off of an abandoned old-tech mining rig, quickly rigged them to work as gauntlets, and used them to free the trapped Delvers.

After turning over this new leaf, Vi had a brief career as a vigilante. It wasn't long before someone noticed her little acts of daring do, and one thing led to another, and now she's a loose cannon of a police officer.

Canon Personality:
For Vi, every problem is just one more thing to punch in the face. Her brain moves relentlessly in straight lines -she's the sort of person who, when presented with a maze, knocks down walls until she finds the exit rather than even attempting to solve it. She's not stupid (although she's no genius, either), it's just that the more complicated a situation is, the angrier it makes her, so she just cuts to the chase as directly as possible.

Vi ultimately does mean well, but she isn't particularly good at being a Good Person. She's very big on personal freedom, but more in a "ain't nobody tells me what to do" way than an "actually cares about social freedoms" way. The result of this is a huge problem with authority, leading both to getting in a lot of fights with her superiors and a tendency to consider orders as suggestions. She's plenty aware of the effect that has on her relationship with upper management, but she figures that she'll be able to compensate for that if she gets enough results.

A lot of Vi's personal hangups come from the fact that she grew up on the streets. She knows what it's like to be at the bottom of the social ladder, and despises being looked down on. As a formal small-time crook, her relationship with crime is a slippery one - she understand what can force someone into a life of crime, but she also would rather criminals get punished than the people they're targetting. Ultimately, she tends to be willing to be a bit more lenient on thieves and thugs (after she's done punching the living daylight out of them), but against the people on top - the kingpins who perpetuate the criminal underworld - Vi shows absolutely no mercy.

When she's not on the job, Vi is unexpectedly laid back. She has a consistent outlet for her aggression, so she's nice and chill when there's nothing to punch. She makes friends easily, but she's also pretty consistent about making fun of her friends. The people closest to her all have vaguely demeaning nicknames, which she continues to use no matter how much her friends ask her to stop.

In short: Friend, enemy, or boss, nobody can control what Vi decides to do other than Vi.

AU Deviation:
The main differences between Union and Piltover are the existence of a nobility class and the existence of the League of Legends. The latter means that in Union, Vi is a much less important person - instead of a Champion of the League, she's just some punk cop with giant robot gloves. The former is something that causes problems around her; Vi is used to living at the bottom of the social ladder, so she's always resented the nobility. When she runs into them, she tends to get even more confrontational and anti-authority than usual, much to the dismay of her fellow cops.

Vi isn't very interested in pokemon, and doesn't like them very much, because she mostly deals with pokemon that are causing problems.

Canon Abilities:
Vi's primary ability is her skill as a Hextech mechanic combined with her love of punching things in the face. These together allowed her to tear the fists off of a mining rig and turn them into Hextech gauntlets. She can charge them with energy and use them to deliver explosive punches or protect herself with an energy shield. But mostly the punching.

The ability to use the gloves without falling over probably counts as an ability.

Enlightened Abilities:
Engineer, Fighting/Steel. She has gloves as per canon, which she found in the Old City and retrofitted for her own use.

Starter Pokémon: Timburr

Notes/Special Considerations: I don't think there's anything.

What do you seek for humanity’s future?
I'm gonna be straight with you here - I don't really give a shit about humanity's future. I'm gonna be dead for most of it, anyway.

So, I guess what I seek is a future where I'm living the good life, and all the assholes who make life shit in Union get what's coming to 'em.

What would you say the most important occupation is within Union?
Ho ho, there's an easy one! Mine.

Think about it: People are basically assholes. If the cops wern't around to keep the biggest assholes in line, what would even be left? Half the city would burn to the ground in a week.

It's a thankless job, but someone's gotta do it.

What do you feel your role in Union is?
Well, I'm a Union police officer, but I'm guessing that's not what you're asking.

My role is to be the person who steps in when someone thinks that the law doesn't apply to them and remind them that they're wrong. As painfully as possible.

What do you think your Pokémon respect most about you?
Shit, I'd tell you if I knew. Little bastard won't stop following me around. I tried punching him once, and he just punched me right back, then kept following me around. Maybe he's just looking for a good fight.

Guess we're not that different, huh.

A human has attacked a wild Pokémon who retaliates in defense. How do you respond and whom do you defend?
Ugh, you sound like my boss.

Okay, I'm sure there's some kind of fancy proper legal response, but if you put me in front of a fight, I'm just gonna end it. First, punch out the pokemon, because it might not know how to not kill people. Then, punch out the person who was fighting it. Then, toss both of them in jail and let the paper pushers decide who was in the wrong.

You plunge into the depths of the Old City. What is it that you seek from the past? Treasure, technology, wisdom?
Funny you should ask that, I was just thinking of doing a little delving this weekend. My left gauntlet's been charging a bit slow, so I need to go down there and find a new actuator. I think some of the finger joints are wearing down, so I'll probably have to just take the whole damn thing apart to figure out how many pieces need replacing. I love the things, but they can be a more than a little bit high-maintenance sometimes.

Wait, what was the question again?
